Calliper replaced on the disco, I thought it was time to crack on with the Locost. However, a large pool of oil in the drive indicated otherwise. Couldn't really see where it was coming from although it appeared to be from the front diff. A little while later (after a short journey) another inspection revealed a crack in the axle casing. Bugger! (Again).
Managed to locate an axle from a farm in Cumbria, so a hire van duly procured, I picked up an entire front axle for £100 :-))))
It's extremely heavy. I don't just mean difficult to move, I mean really heavy and I think it's over 100kgs. Landrover obviously don't car about unsprung weight :-)))
So far I have removed the halfshafts from each end and have yet to remove the radius arms (requiring a 24mm deep socket). I'll take a few pictures as the process is rather simple but on quite a large scale :-))))
Will have to put a cheque in the post for the steering column and clutch cable :-/
