Correct shock absorbers arrived. Refitting them posed no problems. With a freshly hammerited bumper replaced it's time for the disco to get four new tyres. Only problem now is a slight leak from the offside swivel joint seal. It's my longer term plan to drain the swivel joints anyway and pack the CV joint with lithium grease. This should be a long term solution but the seals will need to be replaced anyway (they're only about £3).
I've also ordered a PX600 air filter for the locost. The shop guessed at the baseplate from my carb centres, so hopefully that'll be OK. Could always buy a blank and make my own if it doesn't fit. I also tried to start the engine, seeing that all was in place to allow it. Anyway, the famous 100Ohm resistor was fitted to the old car's ignition switch so lacking this the ECU refused to provide sparks :-) 1 order to maplin later and I should have the correct resistor in the post. I've gone for 10W, 7W and 0.6W just to hedge my bets. I also took the opportunity to get a little DVM and some tiny heat shrink.
