Collected the baseplate from NFS and started work immediately. A template made out of the plastic plate that holds the trumpets and the cutting began. Rather than cut four individual holes for each trumpet, I decided to go for a similar fit as the original airbox. There are air entry points into the carbs other than via the trumpets and I didn't want to starve these of air. The resulting plate isn't exactly correct, but it does the job. No one is going to complain about the corner radii of a plate that is covered by a dome filter. The finished article looks pretty good. M6 dome bolts hold the air filter plate to the backplate. The steering column is on its way already, reminding me that I have to send the cheque off to Joel today :-) I am still awaiting the delivery of the VWP order. Soon as these two items fall on my doorstep, then the building can continue at a reasonable pace. Time to get rid of some of the old parts on ebay as well
