Bonnet has been attacked with the dremel again, opening up the hole for the air filter to poke through. The curvature of the edges has been altered (purely for aesthetic reasons) and the straight lines made more or less straight. It looks OK, wouldn't say it's perfect though. It does seem a compromise though, as if you cut the hole so that the air filter sticks out dead centre, it's almost impossible to take the bonnet off. With a slightly elongated hole at the right places, removal of the bonnet becomes much easier. I've opted for the ease of bonnet removal.
Had a letter back from the DVLA, the local office want to have a look at the car because of some discrepancy. Maybe they don't like my VIN, although I cannot see why. It cannot follow the same format as the last one as the old one was issued by the DVLA. I couldn't hope to choose a unqiue combination in their format, hence I made up my own.
Next job is to turn an old PC power supply into a battery box. The case of a PC PSU is just the right length for a bike battery to fit into. I plan to document this transformation in pictures! Luckily I have an old bike battery lying around to use as a former for the metal. Should be quite an easy job (here I go again using the word "should")
Completed bonnet means a slight alteration in the positioning of the nose cone although it's only by about 3mm or so, just to take up the gaps. Lots of jobs to do, weather needs to improve for some :-/
