I have started the dash project, seeing as the clutch cable requires drilling a 12mm hole, something that my dremel cannot do. The dash has been broken down into parts and now only consists of the ally/ABS skin. This is going to be used as the former for the new piece of ally. It has the holes cut already and is approximately the same contour as the inside of the scuttle. The mounting of the dash is made easier on the drivers side by using the existing steering column bolts. The mounts can then be fabricated for the passenger side. The fit of the dash panel within the contour of the scuttle doesn't have to be exact as I plan to fit some edge trim (the one with the bulb) The lower edge of the new dash will be formed over a handy piece of tubing in the workshop giving it a suitable and safe radius.
As the steering column is being largely modified there is now no ignition switch. This will have to be relocated and a new one purchased.
JAW project
As for the JAW project, I need to get the following: case, display case, mounting hardware, display filter, display bezel, cooling fan, connecting wire (trailer cable), lambda bung.
There are still decisions to be made; do I mount the display in the same case as the controller? Where do I fit the lambda bung?
