This is an experiment to see how good ebay cheap vinyl wrap actually is.
I have applied it with heat as recommended to a off cut piece of aluminium. Half of the surface was sanded to key the surface, the other half wasn't. The whole thing was cleaned in POR15 marine prep though. The vinyl has also been finished with a cut edge on one side and a folded over edge on the other. The test piece has now been fixed to a fence and we'll see what the incoming wind and rain can do to it.
I do not plan to wait too long for the result of this experiment and will probably end up sticking it in a bucket to simulate the more extreme Scottish weather.
I know it's fake carbon wrap but it's so obviously not real that it doesn't matter (to me anyway) and if it means I don't have to polish that aluminium again, I'm happy!
