No pictures today as there was really no visible progress.
I started looking at the minor electrical niggles, primarily the lack of instrument cluster indication of indicator or hi beam operation. Basically, even though the indicators and hi beam were working, the tell-tale in the instruments didn't follow. After some intense tracing of the 12v signals, it became apparent that the signals were ok at the plug that goes into the back of the bike clocks. Hence the lamps must be the wrong way round (they are now LED).
To get to them meant dismantling the dash which was a pain. I reversed the orientation of the lamps and they now all work!
In addition to this, the engine start button works, the fog lamp is now fitted (and working) and the mystery loom wires have been identified.
