Everything was in place; oil, coolant, fuel, fire extinguisher...
The engine turns over wonderfully and reports good oil pressure. Unfortunately, that is ALL it does :-(
It just refuses to fire so I began by checking for a spark; there is nothing.
OK, so the ZX9 needs a reduced voltage to the ECU as an anti theft measure and normally this is done by a 100 Ohm resistor built into the bike ignition switch. Not using the switch means that I have to emulate this arrangement. I know that there was one fitted in my original loom (as the car ran fine) but after my hacking about with the loom, I wasn't sure if I'd inadvertently removed it!
Anyhow, a quick resistance measurement shows me that I hadn't...
Time to go home and read the Haynes manual.
