Next job was the GDU display. The connector on this is a good 3cm in diameter and would require a large hole and grommet in the scuttle; something that I was keen to avoid. Disassembly of the connector was also out of the question.
Sitting in the driver's seat and playing around with locations of the display led me to a simple solution. Mounted right at the edge of the dash, the scuttle could be slotted for the cable to pass through (a mere 6mm slot). It makes the cable routing easier and the display is exactly where it needs to be.
The only downside is that, despite the display not being set up yet, when a gear is selected, the neutral light no longer goes out, it just dims!
Oh well, a problem for the future as it doesn't affect driving the car!
On a happier note, I have had the lambda bung welded into the exhaust collector and painted everything in VHT paint. As well as this, I have wrapped the primaries in titanium heat wrap, probably more for aesthetic reasons than anything.
Finally, the bonnet catches were replaced and the bonnet refitted temporarily.
