The fitted item is rather hard to get a good picture of as it's a bit of a mirror. Anyhow, here it is fitted. Good news is that I can still see the blingy sump.

I have tried all sorts of impact testing with a test piece, and it survived all but extreme bending, so it should be OK as a defence. Time will tell before I know whether it works or not.
