This odd painted shape on the bonnet is so that, once the bonnet scoop is fitted, there will be no orange visible through the inlet. Once again, not a biggie but it would annoy my aesthetic sensibilities :-)
I am making no attempt to close the gap around the air filter as it makes it impossible to remove the bonnet. I don't think it would have that much effect anyway?
