Fitted the new propshaft. It fits perfectly; I now just need to get the centre bearing mounted in the optimum position
As the propshaft is fitted (temporarily) I marked out and drilled the mounts for the diff. It's now bolted in properly although I need to check on the recommended torque. I also have to make up a support bracket for the centre bearing. It will have to be raised up so that the centre of rotation is 4" above the chassis base. This distributes the angle/height change from diff to engine so that the centre bearing is mounted proportionally.
Measured up the car for a rear undertray and the front panel under the radiator. Will transfer these measurements onto card and then aluminium.
Completed riveting the rear seat panel in place. May even add a few more rivets in due course. I also tidied up the hole where the bolt protrudes through.
The front brake brackets have to be modified so that they will clear the cycle wing brackets. They only have to be altered by about 5mm, but it was enough to stop the being mounted.
Despite Ian's information about the cycle wings only covering up to a 185-tyre width, I've measured them up and with a little fettling they will cover my 205 tyres. The fettling involves cutting the side edges down to leave minimal overhang. I never planned to use the ST cycle wings and always wanted the CF ones from playskool so if they can fit they'll do for now.
The bonnet edges (front and rear) will need to be trimmed to size, as they are far too big at the moment making the bonnet sit too high.
I still need to make up the little ally brackets for each side of the nosecone. Each one of these brackets will have two wellnut mounts with a further two at the nose cone front underside.
I need to get a set of hole cutters. They'll be useful for the dash as well as making access holes for the wiring loom and to certain bolts.
