Got hold of parts from two sierra steering columns but both appear to be different to the one I have already. Some sort of fabrication will be necessary to make one from all the parts I have. I also have the master cylinder caps and look forward to wiring them in (not).
Having finally got the bonnet catches, bonnet and long rivets in the same place, I have found out that the rivets are too wide. Drilling the stainless steel brackets is not an option so I have to buy the right diameter rivets.
Hurrah! I now have the right rivets, courtesy of a shopping trip near fynepax
Tomorrow’s job is to fit the bonnet catches and replace the clutch return spring. Both are jobs that shouldn't take that long but have the probability of going wrong.
The biggest job of all is the wiring, something that I should be able to whittle away at quite quickly. I seem to have a reluctance to start that task as there could be so much to go wrong.
