
First job is to replace the clutch cable. I have previously made cables out of a hodge-podge of motorcycle and mountain bike parts and these have been prone to failure. The common point of failure is at at the point where the cabel fits onto the pedal.
I have now bought a gear change cable from a Formula Renault. This seems a vastly better engineered option and as the picture shows, it is far more substantial than the previous cable. For comparison purposes the old cable here is 3mm.
With rod ends fitted either end it should withstand the rigours of BEC use :-)
